Week 8

We started off class with some fun tongue twisters!  Some twisters were pretty surprisingly tough!
There was the iconic Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked.
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?"

And the surprising "toy boat, toy boat, toy boat."
Teacher Betty impressed us all with a marvelous speech that demonstrated the effective use of a quote.  In her case, it was a poem.

The scholars then picked a quote or two from a pile of quotes in the middle of the table and formed an impromptu speech around it.  As always, we were very impressed with what they came up with.  Personal stories, the rule of three and good eye contact.

Homework:
  • Read pages 23-25, 40-41
  • Write the transition and conclusion of your prepared speech
  • Memorize a quote that you can use in a speech

PREPARED SPEECHES ARE TO BE GIVEN NEXT WEEK!!!  READY?!  YAY!
